Mrs. Barbara Sue Winkle, age 61, of Floyd County, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026.

Born in Vero Beach, Florida, Barbara was a woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She possessed a kind heart, a caring spirit, and a strength that carried her through life’s challenges with grace. Those who knew Barbara will remember her for the love she freely gave, the memories she created, and the special place she held in the hearts of those fortunate enough to call her family and friend.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Winkle; her mother, Twala Sue Swinford; her father, Leonard Paul Painter; her sisters, Shirley Ann Painter, Loretta Lynn Painter, and Sandy Wells; and her brothers, Paul Painter and William Painter.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Katherine Painter; her son, Robert Winkle; her brother, Steven Painter; her granddaughter, Dakota Storm Johnston; and her grandsons, Riley Jase Johnston and Raylan Jaxson Vaughn. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure the love, laughter, and memories they shared with her.

Though Barbara’s earthly journey has ended, the love she gave and the impact she made on those around her will continue to live on. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and that her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew her.

A private family remembrance will be held at a later date.

Barbara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
