Barry Stephen Mitchell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in Talking Rock, Georgia. Born on January 23, 1950, in Atlanta, Barry lived a life marked by devotion, curiosity, and an unyielding desire to lend a helping hand.

A proud graduate of Georgia Tech, Barry earned his Bachelor's Degree and went on to make significant contributions as an engineer at the same institution. He found great satisfaction in his work, combining his passion for problem-solving with his sharp analytical mind. His career was a testament to his dedication and expertise, and he regarded his role with immense pride.

Beyond his professional achievements, Barry was known for his superb craftsmanship and inclination toward creativity. He loved to "piddle" in the basement, where he transformed his various hobbies into projects that brought joy to his family and friends. His workshop was a sanctuary filled with a multitude of tools—often five of the same kind—each waiting to remedy a problem or inspire a yearning for creation. Whether it was fixing something small or undertaking a more ambitious project, Barry's resourcefulness knew no bounds.

Family was at the heart of Barry's world. He is survived by his loving wife, Jana Mitchell, who was his partner and supported him throughout their lives together. Barry was also a proud father to his son, David Simon Mitchell, and daughter, Jennifer Ellen Landsiedel, both of whom carry with them the values and work ethic instilled in them by their father. The warmth and love he shared extended to his grandchildren, Carmen, Rhett, and Ava, who brought immense joy to his life. Barry cherished the moments spent together, whether sharing stories, or simply being in each other's company.

He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Beverly Vaughn, and her husband, Dane, as well as his sister-in-law, Daniela Heider. The love he had for his nieces and nephews was evident, as he took great pride in their accomplishments and enjoyed the time shared together during family gatherings.

Barry was shaped profoundly by the values imparted to him by his late parents, Carl and Ruth Mitchell. Their influence remained in his life as he navigated his journey, always striving to uphold the principles of hard work, kindness, and perseverance that they instilled in him.
