Benny Lemuel Martin, 89, of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on May 18, 1936, in Camp Creek, West Virginia, Benny was the son of the late Lemuel Lawson Martin Jr. and Mildred Jean Green.
Benny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep love for family, and steady service to others. He married the love of his life, Norma June Eanes, on October 20, 1956, and together they built a life of love and commitment over 68 years of marriage.
Benny proudly served in the United States Air Force for 10 years, retiring as a Crew Chief of a B-52 bomber. After his military service, he dedicated 27 years to Jim Tidwell Ford in Kennesaw, Georgia, where he worked as the Service and Body Shop Manager. Always a curious mind, Benny taught himself computer programming in the 1980s when the technology was still new — a testament to his determination and love of learning.
He was a 1954 graduate of Spanishburg High School and spent his early years in Camp Creek, West Virginia, before settling in Georgia, where he raised his family.
Benny was a true problem-solver and craftsman at heart — he loved working on anything mechanical, enjoyed time in the yard, and could often be found fixing something or finding a way to make it better. Though a quiet man, he loved his family fiercely and led with humility, strength, and steadfast love.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma June Martin; his three children: Benny Morris Martin, Sherry June Vaughan (Bill), and Teresa Ann Neal; eight grandchildren: Christopher Adam Brennaman (Sasha), Amanda Leigh Dent (Scott), Justin Eanes Fotey, Nathan Keith Neal (Stephanie), Amber Nichole Warmoth (Scot), Abigail Devine Martin, Alexander Lawson Martin, and William Odell Martin; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Porta Lea Solomon, Roy Edward Martin, Pony Wren Bushnell, Carl Weldon Martin, Bobby MacRay Martin, and George Elwood Martin; and his great-grandson, Benjamin Scott Dent.
Benny’s legacy lives on in the lives he shaped through love, dedication, and quiet service. He will be remembered always with deep affection and respect.
Memorial services will be held on August 8, 2025, at Roper Funeral Home in Jasper, Georgia at 3:00 pm. At a later date, the family will hold a small service in West Virginia where Benny will be laid to rest.
