Carolyn’s vibrant spirit illuminated every life she touched, radiating joy, compassion, and an insatiable zest for living.
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we remember the beautiful life of Carolyn Jo Pearson Lockhart, who passed away on August 7, 2026, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Born on October 20, 1948, in Cobb County, Carolyn’s vibrant spirit illuminated every life she touched, radiating joy, compassion, and an insatiable zest for living.
Carolyn, known affectionately to those close to her as a daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, embraced life with an open heart and an unmistakable sense of adventure. She was a proud Parrot Head who found happiness in the rhythms of music, relishing concerts with her family and sharing in the collective excitement of each live performance. Her love for travel was legendary—she delighted in taking her family on cruises, chasing the sound of ocean waves on countless beach trips, and, above all else, seeking the thrill of the casino, where her laughter rang clear and her smile shone bright.
For Carolyn, the greatest joy came from experiencing life together, ensuring her family was always by her side for every memory in the making. She created a living scrapbook of adventures, filling its pages with laughter, stories, and unforgettable togetherness. Her Wednesday mornings were dedicated to the camaraderie and competition of her beloved ladies’ bowling league, where friendships blossomed amid the clatter of pins and the cheerful spirit of team play.
When not traveling or seeking new adventures, there was no place Carolyn loved more than home—her sanctuary of laughter and simple pleasures. Her dedication to family was boundless; she spent her days lovingly caring for her great-grandchildren, sharing tales of past travels and nurturing dreams for future journeys. By her side was always her faithful fur baby, Marsha, a constant companion through the changing seasons of life.
She was a proud Parrot Head who found happiness in the rhythms of music, relishing concerts with her family.
Carolyn was carefree and spirited, her heart forever open to new experiences and shared happiness. Her legacy lives on through her loving family, who grieve her passing even as they celebrate the warmth and joy she brought into their lives.
She is survived by her devoted children: Gwendolyn Lockhart, Wendy Lockhart, and Duane Lockhart and his wife Judy. Her memory lives on through her beloved grandchildren: Chasity Freeman (and spouse Ashley), Matthew Freeman (and spouse Alyssa), and David Freeman (and spouse Rachel). Carolyn’s legacy continues to grow with her great-grandchildren: Llana Hughes, Zeppelin Hughes, Bexley Hughes, Madallyn Freeman, Ali Freeman, Cole Freeman, and Wade Freeman—the light of her later years.
Carolyn now joins those gone before her: her beloved husband Martin Lockhart and her dearly missed parents, Carl and Joeita Pearson. Their reunion brings a measure of comfort amid sorrow, knowing she is once again surrounded by those she has loved so deeply.
Those who knew Carolyn know that she truly lived as she wished to be remembered: deeply loved and forever missed; vivid, free-spirited, and always ready for the next adventure. Her memory will remain a guiding light in the hearts of her family and friends—forever cherished, eternally treasured, and always a part of every journey.
