IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catharine Johnson
Groover
January 16, 1931 – February 20, 2026
Catharine Johnson Groover, a beacon of strength and generosity, gracefully departed from this world on February 20, 2026, at her cherished home. Born on January 16, 1931, in Camak, Georgia, she was a radiant spirit whose life was woven with rich memories and devoted service.
Catharine's journey through life led her from her roots in Warren County to becoming a well-respected figure in the realms of insurance and real estate. With unwavering independence and a tireless work ethic, she and her beloved husband built an independent insurance agency that became a staple in their community. Additionally, as a licensed Real Estate Broker for many years, Catharine's meticulous nature and nurturing spirit flourished, offering kindness to those she served.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. An active member of St. Augustine’s in Morrow, Georgia and St. David’s Episcopal Church in Roswell, Georgia, Catharine devoted her energies to the church Vestry and Altar Guild, embodying the true essence of service as a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King. Her devotion to her church was a testament to her character, reflecting her deep-rooted belief in community and support.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Catharine's legacy lives on through her daughter Virginia Lawrence Voos (Greg), her grandchildren Catherine Elizabeth Groover, Mary Elaine Groover, Jonathan Hans Voos (Jessica), Kayleigh Marie Voos (Tony), Christopher James Voos, and her great-grandchildren Landon Groover and Jackson Thomas Voos. Alongside them are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish the memories and wisdom she imparted.
Despite the loss of her dear husband, James Lawrence Groover, her son Robert Norton Groover, her sister Shirley Campbell, and her brothers Malcolm and JB Johnson, Catharine's spirit remains an indelible presence in the hearts of those who loved her.
As her family and friends gather to celebrate a life beautifully lived, a graveside service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia, where they will honor her memory and reflect on the myriad of ways she touched their lives.
Catharine Johnson Groover's narrative is one of grace, hard work, and community spirit, leaving behind a tapestry of love that will continue to inspire.
