Charles Adrian
Cochran
January 17, 1937 – April 22, 2026
American Legion Post 29
1:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Charles Adrian Cochran, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Daughter's home in Douglas County on April 22, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on January 17, 1937 in Vinings, Georgia, Chuck’s life was marked by devotion to family and friends he loved dearly, and a passion for both his work and dance. He was proud to have served in the Air Force. He loved his country and had great respect for Veterans and all who continue to serve.
Chuck was raised in Cobb County, attending school in Smyrna, Georgia, where his roots grew strong. He proudly served his country during the Korean War, stationed at Luke Field in Arizona, now known as Luke Air Force Base. This was an honor that reflected his steadfast character and dedication. Upon returning home, he worked in construction and sales before building a rewarding career as a skilled stone mason, establishing a business in Atlanta and the Metro area that flourished for nearly half a century. His craftsmanship not only shaped stone but also friendships, including those formed with Atlanta Braves players during projects at their homes in the late 1990s and early 2000s. A devoted Braves fan, Chuck’s enthusiasm for the team was as enduring as his work ethic.
Dancing was a lifelong joy for Chuck, sparked by his older brother Phirl, who introduced him to the dance floor at the tender age of 14. He used to dance at the Covered Wagon in Atlanta where he became friends with the Legendary Singer Jack Greene. Jack's girlfriend at the time was Barbara Stidham who later became his wife. Chuck and Barbara were teenagers at the time and she taught him how to lead and dance with a partner. She and Chuck had many dances together while Jack sang with the Band. This passion for movement and music remained with him throughout his life, a source of happiness and connection whenever he could partake. Over the last few years he would spend his Friday nights dancing at the American Legion Post 29 whenever he could. He cherished the close friendships he made there and they felt like Family. Chuck’s commitment to fellowship extended beyond the dance hall; He had Faith in Jesus Christ and was an active member of a men’s group from St. John Vianney Catholic Church where he attended with his wife and children when they were young. He gathered weekly with these close friends for over 40 years until the time of his passing, a testament to his loyal spirit and loving nature.
Family was at the heart of Chuck’s life. He shared many joyful and adventurous vacations with his family. He cherished those memories and felt he was truly blessed. He loved to brag on his children and grandchildren who made him so proud and he leaves behind many people he loved. At the time of his passing, he had been residing with his cherished partner Theresa Asano in Dallas, Georgia, surrounded by the love and friendship that defined his later years. His former spouse, Bonnie Cochran, mother of his daughters and stepchildren, remained part of his extended circle, as did his children and their spouses. Daughters and son in laws: Jennifer and Amado Tinahui, Julie and Ryan Swift, Stephanie and Mark Young, Bambi Kimball, Debra and Curtis McDaniel. Alongside his sons and daughter in law: Wendell Cochran, Timothy Cochran, and Charles and Diane Kimball.
Chuck’s legacy lives on through his numerous grandchildren, Dustin Cochran, Charlie Kimball, Natalie Kimball, Brandon McDaniel, Lauren McDaniel, Samantha McDaniel, Scott and wife Jordan Varga, Melanie Driskell, Matthew Tinahui, Benjamin Tinahui, Kellynn and Husband Zach Hogue, Zach and Wife Malarie Young, Jared Young, Morgan Young, and Tyndall Young, and his beloved Great-Grandchildren, Alex Baldonado, Chayton Marques, Hendrix Marques, Aurora Pendragon, Athena Pendragon, Foster Varga, Ellie Varga, Olivia Driskell, Paisley Young, Hartleigh Young, Hannah Young, and Gabriella Hogue. Their lives are indelibly touched by the warmth and strength he so generously gave.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, William T. Cochran, his mother, Annie E. Cochran (maiden name Arrowood), his brothers Harvest “Horace” Cochran, Carl Cochran, Howard “Phirl” Cochran, and his sisters, Euvenia Conn and Thelma Skinner. As well as his first wife and mother of his sons, Ruby Cochran. Their memories lived within him and now within all who knew him well.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the American Legion Post 29, located at 921 Gresham Ave NE, Marietta, Georgia. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and honor a man who danced through life with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
