David Allison Arlen, a cherished husband, devoted stepfather, and beloved grandfather, passed away on September 14, 2005, in Canton, Georgia, at the age of 58. Born on February 27, 1947, in Buffalo, New York, David’s life was marked by his commitment to his family and his distinguished career.
A proud member of the International Association of Assessing Officers, David dedicated his professional life to serving as a Tax Assessor and Property Tax Consultant. In retirement, he continued to contribute to his community through his work with the Cobb County Board of Equalization. His expertise and fair approach earned him respect in his field, reflecting the integrity that defined his character.
David’s legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments. He served honorably in the US Army, having been deployed to Vietnam. Before his honorable discharge in 1969, David was stationed at West Point Military Academy where he embodied the values of duty and dedication throughout his life.
David was known for his warmth, humor, and immense love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Arlen, who filled his life with joy and companionship. He embraced the roles of stepfather and grandfather wholeheartedly, finding great happiness in times spent with his step-daughter Kim and her husband, KC; step-son Greg and his wife, Kelly; and cherished grandsons Jacob, Will, Alex, Miles, Asher, as well as granddaughters Jessica and Izzy. David shared a special bond with his extended family, including his aunts, Rita and Margie, and uncle, Ray, along with numerous cousins who held a dear place in his heart.
David’s passion for life was evident in his love for sports, especially as a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and Buffalo Bills. His spirited enthusiasm brought laughter and connection to family gatherings, where memories were created that will be cherished forever.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alta Arlen, and father, Al Arlen, who instilled in him the values of kindness and perseverance that guided him throughout his life.
As we remember David, let us celebrate a man whose life was filled with love, laughter, and a profound impact on those around him.
