Elizabeth Ellen Elrod Vickers Bridges, a resident of Talking Rock, Georgia, gained her heavenly home on July 15, 2026, at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Georgia.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Elizabeth lived a life marked by gratitude, kindness, compassion, and a deep desire to care for others as well as God’s beautiful creation, especially animals. She loved the Lord with all her heart and faithfully demonstrated that love through fervent prayer, studying His Word, and singing hymns of praise. She was a devoted prayer warrior for her family and friends. Many mornings and evenings could find her sitting on the prayer rock along the mountain trail behind her home, faithfully bringing the cares of others before the throne of God.

Elizabeth touched countless lives both personally and professionally. She proudly served as a police officer with the Huntsville Police Department in Huntsville, Alabama, faithfully serving and protecting her community. After moving to Georgia, she worked as an interior designer and decorator in Marietta alongside her husband in his contracting business.

Her compassionate heart also led her to become involved with Rescue Ranch and its thrift store in Jasper, where she found great joy in helping animals and adopting several beloved fur babies of her own.

In her later years, Elizabeth discovered a passion for art, becoming a self-taught oil painter on canvas and rock. She especially loved creating mushroom and angel paintings, selling some of her artwork but more often giving it as treasured gifts to family, friends, and neighbors. She also enjoyed digging for ginseng, searching for morel mushrooms, and traveling to admire God’s breathtaking handiwork in the mountains, by the sea, and beneath beautiful, cloud-filled skies.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her warm smile, cheerful spirit, joyful laughter, quick wit, and sharp mind. Her unwavering faith, generous heart, and the many stories she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Baggett’s Chapel on Highway 13 in Cunningham, Tennessee, with Greg McGuigan officiating. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery in Erin, Tennessee.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, John Hill Vickers Jr., Terry Vickers, Troy Vickers, all of Huntsville, Alabama, and Andrew Bridges of Jasper, Georgia; her daughter, Deane M. Hutchinson of Florida; her sister, Kathye Jackson of Tennessee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her beloved fur children.

Care of Elizabeth has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
