Frances Freida Wicker, known fondly as Freida to all who loved her, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 10th, 2026, at the age of 94. A cherished resident of The Oaks at Post Road Senior Facility in Forsyth County, Georgia, Freida’s departure marks the end of a beautiful chapter in the lives of those who were fortunate to know her.

Born on July 20th, 1931, in Arkansas, Freida’s early life was steeped in the simple joys of rural living. It was in that humble setting that she met her high school sweetheart, James T. Wicker. Their youthful love blossomed into a lifelong partnership when they married soon after graduation. Together, they embarked on a new journey in Detroit, Michigan, where Freida embraced her role as a devoted homemaker and loving mother. She poured her heart into raising three sons, guiding them with unyielding care and wisdom. Her nurturing spirit bore fruit as all three grew into successful members of society, carrying forward the values their mother instilled in them.

Life blessed Freida with the joy of music and dance—her true passions. The vibrant rhythms of the Big Band era of the 1950s were her favorite, sparking countless evenings where she would lose herself in the swirl of square and line dancing. For many years square dancing clubs in and around Westland, MI were places where her laughter and light-hearted spirit shone brightest amidst the camaraderie of fellow dancers.

Despite the profound losses she endured—the passing of her beloved husband J.T. in 2015, followed by the deaths of her middle son Dale L. Wicker in 2020 and her eldest son Kurt Carl Wicker in 2008—Freida remained a pillar of strength and grace.

Today, Freida leaves behind her youngest son, Wesley Scott Wicker, who lives in Forsyth County, Georgia, with his wife Melanie.  Scott has 3 adult children and 2 grandsons that all live around metro Atlanta.

Frances “Freida” Wicker was an amazingly sweet ,soft spoken women who a friend to all who knew her.   As she dances now among the stars, her legacy will forever reside in the hearts of those she touched, a tender reminder of a woman who danced through life with grace, laughter, and love.

Care of Freida has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
