IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fred Schaeffer
Nickle
January 24, 1952 – March 17, 2026
Fred Schaeffer Nickle, a man whose life was deeply woven with dedication, craftsmanship, and love, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2026. Born on January 24, 1952, in Frederick, Maryland, Fred's journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to both his country and his craft, leaving behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
Fred's early years in Frederick laid the foundation for a life devoted to hard work and service. He answered the call of duty with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his resolve and patriotism. Following his honorable service, he dedicated over three decades to the skilled trade of carpentry as a proud Union Carpenter. His hands shaped more than wood; they built dreams and fortified homes, standing as a symbol of diligence and mastery.
Beyond his professional life, Fred was a craftsman of the household and a steward of his surroundings. His passions extended into yard work and home improvement projects, where his expertise and care brought beauty and order to his family's home. Those who shared moments with Fred remember his unwavering work ethic and the quiet pride he took in creating and constructing with his own two hands.
Fred's heart was as grand as his skill. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Donna Nickle; his son Ian Nickle; and his stepsons, Chris Porter, Marty Kittrell and Cory Kittrell. His family circle was further enriched by six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who carried forward his spirit and warmth into the generations beyond.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lester and Janet Nickle; his cherished sisters Judy; Pat; and his brother Lester Jr. The memory of their nurturing influence remains an enduring part of Fred's story.
Fred Schaeffer Nickle’s life was a testament to resilience, craftsmanship, and family devotion. His legacy is one of honor—honor in service, in labor, and in love. As we reflect on his journey, we celebrate a man who built much more than structures; he built a lasting foundation for those fortunate to call him husband, father, grandfather, and friend. May his memory be a blessing and his soul find eternal peace.
Care of Fred has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
