Gary Allen Powell, a man whose life was marked by devotion to family, country, and simple joys, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Friday, April 17th, 2026. Born on March 29, 1963, at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma, Gary's journey was one of steadfast commitment and quiet strength.

From an early age, Gary exhibited a profound sense of duty, a quality that led him to serve his nation with honor. He dedicated four years of his life to the United States Army, proudly serving in the distinguished 82nd Airborne Division. His time in the military reflected the values he held dear: courage, resilience, and loyalty.

Beyond his service, Gary found solace and pleasure in the peacefulness of nature. Fishing was more than a pastime; it was a cherished passion that brought him tranquility and a chance to reflect amid the rippling waters and whispering breezes.

Gary's life was deeply enriched by the bonds he shared with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Powell, whose companionship was a source of enduring strength and comfort. Also mourning his passing are his siblings: Cathy Powell, Larry Powell, Brian Powell, and Jerry Powell, each carrying forward the legacy of family unity and affection that Gary so treasured. His presence will be sorely missed among them.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Zell Black, whose memory remained ever close to Gary’s heart. Her influence and love helped shape the man he became, grounding him through life's trials and triumphs.

Gary Alan Powell lived a life steeped in dignity and grace, leaving behind memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. As we remember him, we honor not just a devoted soldier and family man but a soul who embraced the quiet beauty of life with unwavering devotion. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the love he so freely gave.

Care of Mr. Powell has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
