Gordon Thomas Howes, a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on October 10, 2025, in Powder Springs, Georgia. Born on September 11, 1962, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, Gordon was a man of remarkable character whose impact will be felt by all who had the fortune of knowing him.
Gordon devoted much of his professional life to the field of technology. After several jobs, he earned an associate degree in computer science from Kansas State University, which was then known as KTI. His career reached new heights when he joined Worldspan, now known as Travelport, where he worked for an impressive 38 years. His commitment to his work exemplified his integrity and dedication, leaving a lasting legacy in the industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gordon cherished spending quality time with his family. He found joy in playing Magic the Gathering with his children and shared many delightful moments playing Rock Band and engaging in thrilling rounds of chess and board games. Gordon’s interests extended to the virtual realm as well, where he enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons, showcasing his playful spirit and love for creativity. He also relished the time spent on cruises with his loving wife, Peggy, exploring new destinations together. Whether reading, bowling, or watching TV series and movies, Gordon made every moment spent with family and friends truly special.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy S. Howes, and their three children: daughter Crystal Hutchins, who is married to Josh; son Richard Howes, who is married to Raven; and son Gordon Howes, Jr., who is married to Lexy. Gordon also leaves behind his sister, Susan Best, and her husband, Terry, who were always cherished in his heart.
Gordon was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Thompson; father, Richard H. Howes; sister, Sheila Sweet; and brother, Leland Howes. Their memories lived on in Gordon's stories and were often shared with the warmth and love that characterized his relationships.
Arrangements for Gordon’s final tribute have been entrusted to the care of In Their Honor Funeral & Cremation Providers located in Fairmount, Georgia.
