Ingrid Else Levene, a woman of grace, vitality and strength, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026 near Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Born on June 28, 1937, in Mannheim, Germany, Ingrid lived a life rich in experiences, woven with a deep love for family, nature, animals, and culture.
She was a dedicated mother who was passionate about hiking and enjoyed the change of seasons. Flowers in nature and planting them at home gave her true joy. Travel was another of Ingrid’s great joys; she found inspiration and delight in exploring foreign lands, savoring new cultures and perspectives.
Ingrid was a gifted cook and a welcoming hostess. She made the best chicken tetrazzini—and her Thanksgiving Feast was treasured by all who were fortunate to share her table. Her home mirrored her refined taste, filled with mid-century teak furniture that she cherished deeply, reflecting her stylish and elegant nature. Her innate perfectionism was evident in every aspect of her life.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed a robust game of Scrabble or Canasta, and could frequently be found challenging herself in “Words With Friends“.
Her professional life was marked by dedication and loyalty. For fifty years, Ingrid proudly served as a civilian employee of the United States Federal Government in Heidelberg, Germany, culminating her distinguished career as the executive assistant to the political adviser. Her commitment to her work and the relationships she built over the years left a lasting impact on her and on those who worked alongside her.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ernestine Uhly, her father, Willi Uhly and her brother, Volker Uhly. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter, Mara Levene, her sister-in-law Karin Uhly, her niece Caren Uhly, her great niece Julie, and great nephews Maurice and Maxime. As well as her precious grand puppy, Zach.
Honoring Ingrid’s wishes, her remains will be cremated and taken back to her hometown, Heidelberg, Germany.
