J. Wayne Maw, a beloved figure to all who knew him, passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on September 14, 1939, in Easley, South Carolina, Wayne was known for his generous spirit and unwavering zest for life.

Wayne carried an infectious love for sports that defined much of his life. A passionate Clemson football fan, he took great pride in his yearly season tickets, eagerly anticipating each game and celebrating the triumphs of his team. His enthusiasm extended beyond football; he was a devoted supporter of the Atlanta Braves, never missing a chance to watch his beloved baseball team play.

Beyond his sporting passions, Wayne was admired for his caring nature.  His warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to call him a friend or family member.

Wayne is survived by his loving daughter, Mandi Rutland; his step-daughter, Donna Pickens (David); step-sons, James Tronco and Jimmy Tronco (Carol); as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear brothers, Dan Maw of Newberry, SC, and Sam Maw of Spartanburg, SC, along with numerous nieces and nephews, each holding precious memories of their time together.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Maw; his parents, Harleston Samuel Maw and Mary Lyda McGaha Maw; and his siblings: brothers Adger, Alvin, Ansel, Edward, Grady, John, and Lewis Maw, and sisters Mary Elizabeth Maw and Dorothy Steele. Their absence is deeply felt, yet they leave behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

As we remember J. Wayne Maw, we celebrate a life filled with passion, care, and unforgettable moments. His memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.

Care of Wayne has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
