James Wayne Blount, born on October 21, 1953, in Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home in Cartersville, Georgia, on July 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Wayne, as he was fondly known, lived a life characterized by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.
Wayne attended Northside High School and later went on to build a successful career, working 10 years at Kamtech in Woodstock, Georgia before retiring. He took pride in his work, contributing diligently throughout his years of service. His commitment to excellence extended beyond his professional life, as he also proudly served in the United States Navy, showcasing his dedication to his country.
An avid fan of Georgia Football, Wayne was known to passionately cheer for his beloved Bulldogs- Go Dawgs! His enthusiasm for sports was matched by his love for handiwork; he found great joy in working outside with his hands, whether it was repairing cars or improving his home. His interests reflected a hands-on approach to life, and he shared many memorable moments with family and friends in these pursuits.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Edmund Cecil Blount Jr., and his sister-in-law, Brenda Blount. He leaves behind two sons, James (Jimmy) Samuel Blount and Jacob (Jake) Cecil Blount, along with their respective wives, Chelsea Blount and Brittany Blount. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren, James Falcon Blount, Brooklyn Phoenix Blount (Bb), and Madelyn Marie Blount, who brought immense joy to his life. Wayne is also survived by his niece, Shandra Blount, and his uncle, Lemont Blount.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Wilcox, and his father, Edmund Cecil Blount, as well as his beloved wife, Theresa Ann Blount. He will be remembered for his loving spirit, his unwavering support to those around him, and the countless memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
