James Edward Lucas passed away on October 21, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on April 22, 1949, he will be remembered with love by those who knew him and by the family who shared in his life.

James was an alumnus of Harts High School in Harts, West Virginia, and of Ohio State University. He was also a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church. In the quiet and meaningful parts of life, he found enjoyment in woodworking, reading science fiction, and football, interests that helped shape the way he spent his time and the memories he leaves behind.

Above all, James will be remembered as a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Debra Lucas, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his daughters, Kiska Satterfield and her husband, Randy, and Brandi Lucas, as well as his son, James R. Lucas. Their places in his life were lasting and deeply cherished, and his memory will continue to live on through them.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lucas; his mother, Lucy Lucas; his sister, Melinda Faye Brewster; and his special nephew, Monnie Dean “Chipper” Workman. Their memories remained part of his story and are now joined with his in lasting remembrance.

At this time, no service has been requested. James Edward Lucas will be remembered with affection for the life he lived, the family he loved, and the simple joys that meant so much to him.
