Janet Tracey Smith, a cherished soul whose warmth touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully at her home on April 15, 2026. Born on January 19, 1968, in Douglasville, Georgia, Janet lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and deep love for her family and the simple joys she held dear.

Janet's journey was shaped from the very beginning by her roots in Georgia, growing up with a heart full of faith and strength. She attended Old National Christian Academy, nurturing a spirit centered on care and kindness. For many years, Janet dedicated herself as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role that reflected her innate desire to support and comfort others. Her professional life was a true extension of the gentle and generous nature that defined her.

Beyond her work, Janet’s passions filled her days with happiness. She adored the beach, finding solace and peace in the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of the sun. Her love for Mexican food was well known among her family and friends—meals shared over laughter were some of her most treasured moments. Above all, Janet’s heart belonged to her beloved grandchildren and family, who were the light of her life. Her affection extended not only to people but also to her cherished fur babies, companions who brought her endless joy and comfort.

Janet’s family remains a testament to the love she gave so freely. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jennifer Carroll, who carries forward her mother’s legacy of strength and kindness. Her brothers, Stevie and Skippy Smith, and her sister Susan continue to hold her memory close, as do her treasured grandchildren Kaleb and Khloe Johnson and Sammy Taylor, each touched by her boundless affection and gentle guidance.

Though Janet is no longer with us, the memories of her laughter and the warmth she shared endure. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Smith, and father, George Douglas Smith,Sr., as well as her twin brother Timothy Smith, and siblings Stanley and Lisa. Their loss marks a profound chapter in the family’s history, yet the love Janet radiated has left an indelible imprint that will remain forever in their hearts.

A service to honor Janet’s life will be held at a later date by her family, a moment when those who loved her will come together to celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Until then, her spirit lives on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the affection so deeply felt by all who had the privilege to know her.

Janet Tracey Smith’s life was a tapestry woven with love, devotion, and grace—a true blessing to her community, family, and all who crossed her path. Her memory is a beacon of comfort and inspiration, reminding us of the enduring power of kindness and the beauty found in a life well-lived.

Care of Janet has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
