John Owen Walsh, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at the Decatur Veterans Hospital in Georgia, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 18, 1950, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, and lived a life characterized by love, dedication, and an easy-going spirit.

John's educational journey took him to Fitzgerald High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with purpose. After his schooling, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy, reflecting his commitment to service and his country. Following his military service, John embarked on a fulfilling career as a truck driver, a job that allowed him to travel and experience the beauty of the open road.

Family was at the heart of John’s life. He was a loving husband to Celisa P. Walsh, and together they created a warm and nurturing home. As a father, John took great pride in his four children: Clint Jondale P. Walsh, Charissa P. Walsh, Colin Jade P. Walsh, and Cyrile James P. Walsh. John leaves behind two sisters, Annette Mock and Linda Cravey.  Their lives were enriched by his unwavering support, guidance, and affection, and he will be remembered as a good husband and father who always prioritized family.

Outside of work and family, John enjoyed indulging in his favorite TV shows, often engaging with stories and characters that entertained and inspired him. His love for travel allowed him to create unforgettable memories, which he shared with his loved ones.

John is preceded in death by his father, Ed Owen, and his mother, Gwennell Kimbrell, both of whom will forever be honored in the hearts of those who knew him. John is also preceded in death by his brother, Ken Walsh and his sister Betty Bryant.  Though John has left this world, his spirit remains alive in the hearts of his family and friends who will deeply miss him.
