Joseph
Collins
March 1, 1953 – April 1, 2026
Joseph Collins, born March 1, 1953, in Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2026. A man whose vibrant spirit illuminated every room, Joseph was known for his bubbly and outgoing personality. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Fields Collins, who fondly remembers the tender way he would nickname her "Mama," a reflection of the deep and loving connection they shared.
Joseph found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending his free time fishing and playing baseball, activities that brought him happiness and a sense of peace. His career in construction was marked not only by the work he accomplished but by his dedication and the pride he took in building and contributing to his community. One of Joseph's proudest moments was the day he was baptized, a testament to his faith and personal journey.
He delighted those around him with his infectious humor, always ready with a joke, embracing the role of the clown who could uplift the spirits of friends and family alike. Joseph's warmth and genuine care for others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Fields Collins; his sister Betty Jo Kelly (Dea Kelly); sister-in-law Shirley Fields Hollis; and his son Anthony Shane Wilbanks, alongside daughter-in-law Sherri Wilbanks. He also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews who were blessed to have him as part of their lives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Sue Grant; father, Albert J. Collins; and sisters Barbara Sue Gayton, Net Jones, and Martha Faye — whose memories and love will forever remain a part of Joseph’s story.
Joseph Collins’s legacy is one of joy, laughter, and unwavering love, a beacon to those who had the privilege of sharing their journey with him. Though his presence is now missed, his spirit and the memories he created will continue to inspire and comfort his family and all who knew him.
