Joseph “Jody” Hardy Tatum, 56, of Kingston, Georgia, passed away on June 3, 2026.
Jody was born on February 3, 1970, in Cartersville, Georgia, to Joe and Quinn Tatum. An avid outdoorsman, Jody found his greatest joy hunting and spending time outdoors. Known by many in the rodeo community, his passion for steer wrestling and the western way of life shaped much of his younger years and left him with memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Jody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hoyt “Hob” Tatum and Lillian “Big Momma” Tumlin Tatum, and F.H. “Pop” McDaniel and Jessie May “Quinn” McDaniel; his aunts, Francis and Dot; and his uncles, Slick and Duck.
He is survived by his loving parents, Joe and Quinn Tatum; his son, Jesse (Lauren) Tatum; his daughter, Kaleigh (Montana) Smith; his grandchildren, Oakley, Quinn, Boomer, Evelyn, and Rowynn; his significant other, Beth Pittman; his aunt, Grace; and many other family members and friends.
Through organ and tissue donation, Jody was able to help others and leave a lasting impact beyond his own life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jody will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his passion for rodeo, and the memories he shared with those who knew him.
Care for Mr. Tatum has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
