Those who knew Josephine found in her a heart that was always open—a gentle presence in times of need.
With deep love and gentle sorrow, we announce the passing of Josephine Davis, who departed this life on June 26, 2026, at her home. Born on September 19, 1947, in Ellijay, Georgia, Josephine’s journey was marked by kindness, warmth, and unyielding devotion to those she loved.
Josephine was a proud daughter of Annis Dotson Davis and Arvil Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. From her earliest days in Ellijay, Josephine carried forward the legacy of faith, resilience, and compassion imparted by her cherished parents. Those who knew Josephine found in her a heart that was always open—a gentle presence in times of need and a comforting voice during life’s celebrations and trials.
Her life found special purpose and boundless joy in her family. Josephine’s love for her daughter, Tammy Bowen, was fierce and unwavering—a bond whose strength remains undiminished. The arrival of her granddaughter, Darby Bowen, brought Josephine happiness immeasurable, giving her new reasons to smile and stories to share. She also held dear her relationships with her niece and nephew, for whom her affection was constant and her support steadfast.
Throughout her years, Josephine radiated warmth not only within her family but also to friends and those fortunate enough to cross her path. Her spirit was marked by gentle humility and a generous heart, qualities that won her deep respect and genuine affection from all who knew her. Whether comforting a friend or delighting in the simple beauty of a Georgia morning, Josephine embraced each day with gratitude and grace.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Tammy Bowen; granddaughter, Darby Bowen; and many nieces and nephews. and a host of friends and family members who will miss her dearly while cherishing the memories she leaves behind.
Though Josephine’s earthly journey has come to a close, her legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. As we bid her farewell, we hold tightly to her memory, finding comfort in the knowledge that she now rests in peace, embraced once more by the loved ones who went before her.
