Kathleen Ann Hobbs

Kathleen Ann Hobbs passed away on September 3, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on August 12, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kathy was raised in Denver, Colorado and lived most of her life in Phoenix, Arizona. She worked at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, and she gave selflessly in both her work and her community. Kathy was known as a very kind, loving, and generous person who devoted her time to volunteering with organizations such as the Arizona Audubon Society and the Girl Scouts of America.

Kathy found joy in the simple and beautiful things of life. She loved bird watching, sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting fabulous potholders. She enjoyed relaxing at the family cabin and taking in the beauty of nature, and she loved camping, picnicking, and exploring new roads. These quiet pleasures reflected the warmth and gentle spirit she brought to the people around her.

Her family was the heart of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rebecca Lynn and her husband Thomas, Elizabeth Libby, Karen Lawrie and her husband Stan, and Melanie O'Neil and her husband Christopher. She is also survived by her grandchildren Heather, Ashley and her husband Travis, Megan and her husband Gabriel, Blake and his wife Kaley, Chase, Wade and his wife Hannah, Tatum, Madelyn and her husband Joseph, Christopher, Kathryn, Rebekah, and Anthony. Her legacy continues as well in her great-grandchildren Remington, Marlise, Roman, and Aiden. She is also survived by her brother John Barry and his wife Marion Wingfield and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Kathy’s love reached across generations, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Hobbs; her parents, Nora Barry and Earl Barry; and her brothers Earl Barry, Edward Barry, Michael Barry, David Barry, and Donald Barry.

Kathy will be remembered for her gentle heart, her love of family, and her beautiful smile. Her memory will remain a blessing to those she leaves behind. Her presence will be missed, but her spirit will continue in stories we tell, the beauty she saw in the world, and the legacy she created. 

A Celebration of Life is to be held at Cross in the Desert United Methodist Church, 12835 N 32nd Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85032, at 10am MST on Saturday, November 14, 2026.
