Laraine L. Peterson, affectionately known as “Pinki” and lovingly called “Mimi” by her family, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on February 16, 1941, in Merrill, Wisconsin.

Laraine devoted many years to managing a greeting card store before retiring when she learned she was going to become a grandmother. Embracing her most treasured role as “Mimi,” she poured her love, time, and energy into her family, creating countless memories that will be cherished for generations.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—losing herself in a good book, cheering on her favorite NASCAR drivers, watching birds from home, baking and cooking for the people she loved, knitting, skeet shooting and challenging her granddaughter to see who could find the most words in a word search. Laraine was known for her quick wit, unmistakable charisma, and a stubborn streak that those who loved her wouldn’t have changed for the world. As the matriarch of her family, she offered strength, guidance, and unwavering love, leaving a legacy built on laughter, resilience, and devotion.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Scott (Mary) Peterson, Gregory Peterson, and Leigh Ann (Britt) Lynn; her cherished granddaughter, Maggie Lynn; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Evie Lynn, sister Dodie (John) Rockelmann, and brother Steven Young. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Laraine was reunited with her husband Timothy (Tim) Peterson one week before their 64th wedding anniversary. She was also reunited with her parents; Raymond “Bud” and Gertrude (Cohrs) Young; her siblings, Marilyn Young, Richard “Dick” Young, Marie (Young) Beesley, and Barbara “Barb” Zangl; siblings in love; Phillip (Phil) Zangl and Lavonna Young, along with many other loved ones who welcomed her home.
