IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence
Duncan
May 26, 1954 – January 7, 2026
Lawrence Duncan, a beloved figure to many, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on May 26, 1954, in the serene Pickens County, Georgia, Lawrence was a man whose heart was as wide as the open sky, and whose spirit embraced everyone he met — indeed, he was a true embodiment of the adage, "never met a stranger."
Throughout his life, Lawrence found joy in the simple pleasures that nature provides. He was an avid fisherman and loved to ride his four-wheeler across the trails of his home, feeling the rush of the wind and the warmth of the sun on his face. His passion for the outdoors extended to hunting, where he often shared moments of tranquility while feeding deer, creating connections with the creatures that roamed the land he cherished.
Lawrence was known for being a simple man, filled with love for everyone he encountered. His infectious smile and kind demeanor made him not just a friend to many, but also family to those who were lucky enough to know him. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with laughter and affection among those he adored.
He is survived by his sister, Juanita Hancock of Ballground, Georgia, who stood by him through thick and thin. He held great love for his niece and nephew: Larry Patterson (Mary) of Ballground, GA; Anita Johnston (Phillip) of Jasper, GA; and Glenda Garrett of Waleska, GA. Alongside them, he cherished the bonds with several great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his warmth and kindness. Lawrence also leaves behind a close-knit community filled with family and friends—neighbors who were dear to him and who he considered as part of his own family.
He is preceded in death by his dear parents, Frank John Duncan and Rena Mae Culps, who surely welcomed him with open arms. He is also reunited with his brothers, Johnny Duncan and Thomas Duncan, who shared in his laughter and joys throughout life.
As we mourn the loss of Lawrence, we also celebrate the life of a man who brought light and love into the lives of so many. His legacy will live on through the hearts of those who remember him and all the simple, beautiful moments they shared. May he rest in peace, embraced by the nature he so dearly loved, forever riding the trails in spirit.
Care of Mr. Duncan has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
