May 23, 1945 – December 8, 2025
Leland James Ehlert, born on May 23, 1945, in Adrian, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. Lee, as he was affectionately known, was a creative spirit who found joy in the simplicity of hanging wallpaper. It was in this art where he discovered profound happiness, with every roll and brush stroke reflecting his vibrant personality.
Lee also found immense joy in spending quality time with his friends and family listening to music, often enjoying a nice cigar, sipping on his favorite adult beverages, and savoring delightful meals, with Indian and Mexican cuisine holding a special place in his heart. Later in his life he truly enjoyed his cows out in the backfield of his beautiful yard. Lee was a dedicated artist at heart, immersing himself in drawing and painting. His creativity knew no bounds; he thrived in expressing himself through various artistic avenues.
Among his proudest accomplishments were his two daughters which were his true passion and favorite pastime; the cherished family vacations with spent at the beach condo, where he reveled in the warmth of the sun and the soothing embrace of the ocean waves. These moments were filled with laughter and love, creating lasting memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Lee is survived by his loving daughter, Christine Mackey and Son in Law Edward E. Mackey and his loving girlfriend Mazzarella. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Carol Ann McCarty, and his daughter, Carisa Ann Ehlert.
The care of Leland has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
As we remember Leland, let us celebrate the life of a man who brought creativity, warmth, and joy to those around him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of family and friends, and his legacy of love and artistic spirit will live on in the stories and laughter we share.
