She loved Jesus with unwavering conviction and dedicated her life to her Savior.

Lisa R. Trussell, born Lisa R. Sapp, was called home on July 2, 2026, having shared her love and gentle spirit with all who were privileged to know her for 58 years. She entered this world on January 12, 1968, in Decatur, Alabama, where she was a second mom to her siblings.

From her early days, Lisa endured many of the hardships others face in life. And through all of life's challenges found the Lord. Her heart was devoted above all to her faith. She loved Jesus with unwavering conviction and dedicated her life to her Savior. Her days were filled with gratitude—each blessing, small or large, met with a quiet prayer of thanks. Even in times of difficulty, Lisa found comfort in Jesus, trusting fully in Him and looking forward to all of His promises.

Those who knew Lisa best will always remember her motherly unconditional love, and her kind spirit.  She was passionate about flowers and animals—finding beauty in colorful blossoms and the gentle presence of four-legged companions. As well as many other animals, whether they were frogs, lizards, turtles,or dogs. And also birds were one of her favorites. She got to know her adopted grand babies through Shannon's daughter. These were the gifts that made her spirit bright and kept her connected to the world in ways both profound and humble.

Above all, Lisa was a loving mother, a steadfast presence, and a rock for her family. Her son, Kaleb Owens, carries with him the lessons of compassion, resilience, and unconditional love that his mother embodied every day. Kaleb’s wife, Shannon Owens, will forever remember her as her 2nd mom, & be forever grateful for Lisa as the beautiful woman who raised her husband into a man of God.

Lisa was a loving mother, a steadfast presence, and a rock for her family.

Lisa was the kind of mother whose care and comfort had no expiration, extending well into her son’s adulthood—there for every tear and every triumph, the one you could always count on for support or a shoulder to cry on. She was grateful for everything, never demanding the spotlight, preferring instead to focus on the true gifts of life: family, faith, and the beauty of nature.

Lisa’s mother, Elizabeth Ann Dooley, preceded her in death, and their bond continues on in cherished memories and in faith, both mothers now in the presence of the Lord they so dearly loved. She is also preceded in death by her nephew,Ryan Sapp, who passed away in 2025 at the young age of 28. As well as her sister,Theresa Sapp. And Kaleb's father,Brian Owens.

Lisa requested that her family hold a private service in her honor, desiring that she not be remembered in death, but rather that her life be celebrated and cherished. She asked for those who loved her to carry forward her legacy by remembering the simple joys, the gratitude she modeled, and the deep faith that carried her through every moment.

Today, as we reflect on Lisa’s life, we do so in celebration and remembrance, knowing that her love, her kindness, and her steadfast faith will remain an inspiration. Though she is deeply missed, we embrace the hope she treasured, certain that we will see her again where sorrow and pain no longer exist, and love endures forever.

Care of Lisa has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
