It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Evans Lockhart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed from this world on September 27, 2025, at Wellstar Community Hospice. Born on August 17, 1946, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Martin was a quiet and reserved man who lived a life defined by dedication, simplicity, and love for his family.
Martin’s impressive 30-year career at Lockheed Martin was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and integrity. He approached each day with a humble work ethic, reflecting the values instilled in him during his upbringing. He graduated from Osborne High School, where the foundations of his character were laid, shaping him into the remarkable man he became.
A simple man at heart, Martin found the deepest joys in life through his love of hunting and the brotherhood of the Masons—a testament to his appreciation for camaraderie and the great outdoors. Although he often preferred to listen more than speak, those who knew him were aware of the quiet strength he possessed.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carolyn Pearson Lockhart; his daughter, Wendy Lockhart; his son, Duane Lockhart; Sisters Audrey Gamblin and Sandra Pogue and her husband Tom; and his cherished grandchildren, Chasity, Matthew, and David. Martin was also blessed with the joy of great-grandchildren, Llana, Maddie, Zeppelin, Ali, Cole, Bexley, and Wade, who filled his later years with laughter and warmth along with many Nieces and Nephews.
Martin now joins his beloved parents, Viola Lockhart and Beecher P. Lockhart, in eternal peace. His legacy of love, strength, and quiet dignity will carry on through the lives he touched. As we gather to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we remember him not just for his achievements but for the gentle kindness that characterized his existence. Martin Evans Lockhart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him, as he leaves behind memories that are forever imprinted on our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for the family in the near future.
Arrangements have been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
