Mary was a proud alumna of Osborn High School and dedicated much of her career to Lockheed Martin, where she served as an administrative assistant for 25 years. At the front desk, she played a vital role in the security of the F-22 project, ensuring that all visitors had the proper clearance, a task she managed with diligence and grace. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to her work earned the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike. Beyond her professional life, she worked tirelessly to support her daughter, Cecelia, ensuring that she attended college without the burden of student loans. This commitment was a testament to Mary's loving nature and the deep bond she shared with her family.
As a mother, Mary was a beacon of strength and capability, always there to guide and support her loved ones. Her daughter Cecelia Ison and son-in-law Lance, along with her cherished granddaughters Esther-Mae and Amanda Ison, were her pride and joy. Mary poured her heart into nurturing them, instilling in them the values of love, perseverance, and education—an inheritance far more valuable than material wealth.
Mary's passions extended beyond her family. She had a profound love for Elvis Presley and was deeply fascinated by all things related to the Civil War. A lover of nature, she found joy in the simple things—watching butterflies flutter by, admiring the grace of hummingbirds, and surrounding herself with the color purple, which mirrored her vibrant personality.
She is survived by her daughter Cecelia Ison and her husband Lance, and her granddaughters Esther-Mae and Amanda Ison who will continue to carry forward the legacy of love and resilience that their grandmother embodied. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother Larry Mitchell and his wife Cheryl, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and a multitude of cousins who will forever hold dear the moments shared with Mary.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving parents, Herman E. Mitchell and Helen Alvetta Butler, who nurtured her strong spirit and instilled in her the values of kindness and independence.
As we remember Mary M. Whitlock, we celebrate a life filled with unwavering devotion to family, a tireless work ethic, and an indomitable spirit. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
