Mercedes M. Betts, age 90, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away on September 13, 2026.

Mercedes devoted much of her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse. Many will fondly remember her as the kind and familiar face who cared for them in their doctor’s office. Her life of service and compassion touched not only those she cared for professionally, but also the friends and family who knew and loved her.

Mercedes is survived by her children, Lawrence D. McCorkle and his wife, Sandy; Maxine Henderson and her husband, David; Bill McCorkle and his wife, Tammy; and Bob McCorkle and his wife, Jeannie. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward for generations to come.

In accordance with Mercedes’ wishes, no formal services are planned.

Her family will remember her with love and gratitude for the many years they were blessed to share with her. May the memories made throughout her 90 years bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
