It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Duane Herrington, 64, who left us peacefully on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born on November 22, 1960, in Portland, Oregon. He was a beloved father, grandfather,great-grandfather, and friend. Michael served in the US Army and took great honor in being a veteran. He was a lover of motorcycles, classic cars, and his dog, Rusty. He never knew a stranger, often befriending anyone he met. He was a soul alight with the love of Christ, lighting the way for others. Even in his hardest moments, Michael’s humor never wavered. He had a gift for laughter, always ready with a quick joke or a clever remark, bringing smiles to those around him even until the very end.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Patrick David Homer Herrington, 67, and his mother, Darlene Marie Stogner, 81. He is survived by his fiancée, Kathy Weaver; his brother,Patrick Dennis James Herrington; his daughters, Bambi Linn Tate (Chase) of Pollock, LA, DevonAnnamarie Young (Jason) of White, GA, and Cloe Herrington of Cartersville, GA. Among his greatest blessings were his grandchildren — Hailee and her husband, Charles Hanks, Garrett and his wife, Madolyn Schrader, Jayson and his fiancée, Destiny Adcock, Tatum, and Brooklynn— and his great-grandchildren, Iviee, Shepherd, and Sonny, who brought him immense joy.
A celebration of life will be held at God’s Rolling Thunder Church in Woodstock, GA, amongst his loving and supportive congregation on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Disabled American Veterans.
