Born on March 24, 1958, in the quiet town of Tate, Georgia, Michael lived a richly textured life, full of hard work, laughter, and boundless love for his family.

Throughout his career, Michael was known not only for his skilled hands but for the warmth he brought to every workshop he stepped into. A true craftsman, he took great pride in his ability to breathe new life into old machines, most notably restoring a cherished hot rod car that was a labor of love and a symbol of his dedication and passion. His talents extended beyond the garage to the great outdoors, where camping and fishing were among the tranquil pastimes that brought him joy and a sense of peace.

Michael's personality shone brightly in his role as a storyteller and jokester. Those who had the privilege of knowing him would fondly recall his infectious laughter and the way music seemed to fill every corner of his life, its melodies weaving through his stories and jokes. Yet, above all else, Michael’s greatest pride and accomplishment was being a devoted dad to his children. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy Long Tilley; his daughter, Kayla Lynn Tilley; his son, Michael Daniel Tilley; and his grandson, Elijah Tilley Jones. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Betty Parker Tilley Cook and Robert Raymond Tilley, whose spirit he carried with him every day.
