Mr. Charles Porter Jones, Jr., affectionately known as "Chuck," passed peacefully on the sixth day of February, 2026, at the age of eighty-six. His final moments were spent at Piedmont Hospital in Cartersville, Georgia, surrounded by the love of his son, Chas. P. Jones III.

Born on the fourteenth of December, 1939, in Florence, South Carolina, to Alice Booker Jones and Charles Porter Jones (Sr). He served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany, where he met his first wife and had a son (Chas. P Jones III). After his military service, Chuck worked in the Telecommunications industry, in Omaha NE for a while, then at various "White Alice" sites in extreme remote regions of Alaska, providing "Top Cover" from various Distant Early Warning (DEW-line) sites, monitoring of US air-space, during the Cold War era.

Chuck eventually settled in Anchorage Alaska. He retired from Anchorage Telephone Utility, at which time he moved to his family's legacy home in Lyerly (Chattooga County), GA.

Chuck's return to his family's legacy home in Lyerly, marked a new chapter, one in which he took on the heartwarming responsibility of caring for his beloved father. His commitment to service extended beyond family, as he honored his community while serving two terms as Mayor of Lyerly,

In the twilight of his years, Chuck sought care at Brookside Senior Living in Cartersville, where he was met with kind and loving attention, allowing him the dignity and respect he deserved. His journey through life's challenges was also supported by the compassionate team at Trinity Hospice Care of Georgia, ensuring his final days were filled with comfort.

Chuck leaves behind his son, Chas P. Jones III, of Anchorage, AK. Chuck is preceded in death by both parents and by his beloved wife, Deborah Bell Jones (nee Glisson), whose memory will not be forgotten.

Chas P. Jones, III would like anyone facing end of life care for their parent, to kindly consider Brookside Assisted Living in Cartersville. Your loved one will receive attentive care in a safe environment. Also consider Trinity Hospice Care of Georgia for Hospice Care which is available in various North-Western counties of Georgia. A special THANK YOU to the team at In Their Honor, Funeral and Cremation for their kind and compassionate services, delivered with honesty and respect!
