Nancy Virlee Harris, age 61, of Douglasville, Georgia, departed this life on August 10, 2026.

She was raised with a strong belief in God, and her faith remained at the center of her life. Nancy believed deeply in the goodness and favor of God and encouraged her family and friends to trust in His grace, remain faithful, and recognize His blessings. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about, it was reflected in how she lived, loved, served, and cared for others.

With a heart of benevolence, Nancy proudly served four years in the United States Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant Clinical Nurse. Following her military service, she pursued a career in nursing, a calling that naturally aligned with her compassionate spirit and desire to help others. Whether serving her country, caring for patients, or supporting those closest to her, Nancy consistently demonstrated kindness & compassion.

Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who treasured time with those she loved. She enjoyed RV’ing, bingo, game nights, pickleball, and the fellowship and laughter of Ugly Christmas Sweater Brunches - believing these moments were all opportunities to bring people together and create lasting memories.

In May 2025, Nancy began her valiant fight against cancer. Throughout the journey, she remained steadfast in her faith, continuing to trust in God’s goodness and favor while encouraging those around her to do the same. She was truly an example of strength, courage, and perseverance while displaying unwavering faith & hope in God.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Briscoe Pinkett Jr.; mother, Madeline Bowland Pinkett; and sister, Gardena Ward.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Lester Harris III; sons, Kenneth Harris (Summer) and Kristopher Harris; sisters, Kay Pinkett, Barbara Hayward (Gene), Wanda Pitts, and Brenda Fletcher (Wayne); niece and nephews, LaToya Deal (Charles), Antwain Jones, and Malik Pinkett; mother-in-law, Margaret Harris; in-laws, Yvonne Harris, Britney Harris, Ro’Nyia Williams (T’qon), Tanyia Williams, Samyia Williams, Derek Robinson and Mark Martin; and many other family members and friends.

Nancy leaves a lasting legacy of love, faith, service and compassion, and an indelible mark in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Care of Nancy has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
