His journey, woven with gentle devotion and steadfast kindness, leaves behind a tapestry of warm memories in the lives of those who loved him dearly.
Norman Richard Duncan, born on August 12, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. His journey, woven with gentle devotion and steadfast kindness, leaves behind a tapestry of warm memories in the lives of those who loved him dearly.
Norman’s spirit, defined by gentle humor and quiet resolve, touched the lives of many. He was the cherished father of Tiffany Whalen, Melissa Ralph, Christopher Duncan, and Michael Duncan. His guidance and unconditional love shaped their lives in ways beyond measure, leaving a legacy of integrity and grace. Norman was further blessed to see his family blossom with grandchildren whom he adored: Michael and Megan Whalen, Alex Ralph, and Jenna and Olivia Duncan. Each of them carries with them his warmth, curiosity, and sense of wonder.
Proudly born and raised in Detroit, Norman made his mark working at Teamsters as a machinist. His diligence and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike, and he took great pride in his craft. Beyond his dedication to work and family, Norman embraced the joys of simple pleasures. He found solace and companionship on the golf course, the camaraderie of friends in a bowling league, and laughter in evenings spent watching movies. Ever youthful in spirit, Norman also delighted in adventures within the worlds of Zelda and other video games, often inviting loved ones to join him in this passion.
Norman’s legacy lives on in the bonds he nurtured and the love he instilled in his family. His gentle encouragement, quiet strength, and playful soul remain a guiding light for all who knew him. The memories forged together—on sunny afternoons at the bowling alley, on peaceful mornings spent perfecting his golf swing, or gathered around the glow of a favorite film—will be cherished forever.
Though he has left this world, Norman’s memory will endure in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege to know him.
