Peggy Austin McNair, born on May 21, 1934, in Dallas, Georgia, passed away on September 7, 2026.

Peggy lived a long life marked by deep family ties and enduring love. She was first preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Allen Bufford, who died in 1972, and later by her husband, William L. McNair, who died in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Buddy Austin, also known as James Denver Austin, Gerldine Austin Cogburn, and Buster Austin, also known as Emmit Dariel Austin.

Family was at the heart of Peggy’s life. She is survived by her son, Charles Allen Bufford, and by Samantha McDaniel, Charles’s fiancé. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Charlie Allen Bufford II, Austin Parker Bufford, and Maggie DellaRuth Bufford. Her family circle also includes David and Sybil McNair, and Valerie and Graham Martin, who were part of the stepchildren and extended family she held dear.

Those who knew Peggy will remember a woman whose life was closely woven with the people she loved. Her memory lives on in the generations of family who carry her name, her love, and her presence with them. She will be missed deeply and remembered with affection by all who knew her.
