Phineas Bertram “Bert” Compton, 94, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026.

Born in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Bert made Atlanta, Georgia his home in 1972. He dedicated his professional life to accounting and was known by those who loved him for his integrity, kindness, warmth, and sense of humor.

Bert found joy in many things throughout his life. He loved playing tennis and golf, listening to jazz, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and visiting museums. He enjoyed sharing those experiences with family and friends and was a man of curiosity and culture. His faith and community were central to his life, and he was deeply involved with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma Compton, in 2014.

 Bert leaves to cherish his memory his son, Al Compton (Brenda); his brother, Carlisle Adams (Samuel); his grandchildren, Shonte Compton and Tramel Compton (Gabrielle); his great-grandchildren, Kimber Compton and Kace Compton; his life partner, Carolyn McCain; his niece, Andréa Spence; along with extended family and many dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

 Bert will be remembered for his loving devotion to family and friends, and as a man who was staunchly committed to living his purpose of helping others.
