Richard Eckman Haight, 85 of Milton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. Born on May 9, 1940, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Richard dedicated four years of his life to serving his country as a helicopter mechanic.  After his service, he pursued his passion for mechanics and embarked on a career in automotive sales.

A true car enthusiast, Richard spent his free time rebuilding classic cars and racing his stock car at the local track. He was married to Sandra Jean Haight for almost 64 years, who preceded him in death. Together, they shared a love for travel, which took them on numerous wonderful adventures around the world. In addition to travel, they found immense joy in taking in countless foster dogs and showering them with unconditional love.

Richard will be remembered foremost as a good, hard-working family man, a role he cherished above all else and fulfilled with unwavering devotion. Known for his love of laughter, he never met a stranger and always had a story to share.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Haight (Alethea), his daughter, Tara Rodkin (Brad), and five grandchildren: Hunter Rodkin, Christian Haight, Kate Bartlett, Nikolas Haight and Rylan Haight. His three great-grandchildren, Isla Bartlett, Eden Bartlett and Cooper Haight. He is also survived by his brother, Earl Haight.

A funeral service honoring Richard’s remarkable life will be held on May 28, 2026 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Care of Richard has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
