A graduate of Genesee High School in Camillus, New York, Richard furthered his education at Brevard Community College in Florida. He had a distinguished career as the store manager for Good Nutrition, where he was known for his extensive knowledge of supplements and his commitment to promoting health and fitness.
Richard's service to his country was notable; he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His experiences during this time shaped his life and fostered in him a deep appreciation for both his country and the value of community.
His creativity shone through in various pursuits. Richard was an artist, percussionist, poet, and creative writer, each form of expression reflecting his profound understanding of the world around him. Nature and animals held a special place in his heart, and he often spent time walking local trails with his beloved wife, Marion Hood, who was his partner for forty years. His love for the outdoors complemented his interests in health and fitness, revealing a well-rounded character that enriched the lives around him.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marion Hood, and his brother, Robert Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and Gordon Johnson, and his brother, Warren York.
His spirit and passions will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
