Lt. Col. Rosser Leamont Moody, Jr., US Army (Ret.) passed away August 17, 2025, at his home in Cumming, Georgia. Born on May 11, 1935, in Toano, Virginia, Colonel Moody was 90 years old.
He was a 1956 Virginia Tech graduate and earned his Advanced degree from Kansas State University in 1974. Col. Moody served numerous assignments during his long military career, including two combat tours in Vietnam, retiring in 1985 with over 28 years of service in Atlanta, Georgia. After enjoying a second career in Real Estate in Atlanta, followed by a 7 year “vacation” in Jacksonville, FL, Colonel Moody and his wife retired to Georgia.
Throughout his life, Ross had passions that brought him immense joy with his wife, Wanda. They both loved to site-see in Europe, camp across the USA, fly his remarkable remote controlled planes in Oklahoma and then Germany. But his most cherished passion was playing and watching golf with Wanda (and on occasion his son Dirk) and ultimately achieving a pro-am status.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Metzler (Bob); sons, Dirk Moody (Mary) and Scott Moody; grandchildren, Jenny Norman, Rachell Baker, Joshua Moody, and Sarah McCollum; and 22 great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward his spirit and the values he instilled in them throughout her life.
As we mourn the passing of Rosser Leamont Moody, we celebrate his life—a life marked by dedication to his country and his family. He will be deeply missed.
