Sarah Jane Hopper, known affectionately as Jane, passed away on September 8, 2025, in Rome, Georgia, at the age of 76. Born on June 18, 1949, in Calhoun, Georgia, Jane was cherished by her family and friends for her vibrant personality and unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
As a proud housewife, Jane embraced her role with passion and commitment, a sentiment echoed by her late husband, Thomas Richard Hopper, who remarked, “Your job is to stay home and raise the children.” Jane was a devoted mother to her children, Dena Perkins, the late Kristie Leeann Thomas, Delana Mahon and Damien Richard Hopper, and she poured her heart into caring for her family.
Jane was known for being very talkative and social, always exuding style and grace. Her makeup was always flawless, and her hair meticulously styled; she truly embodied the notion of being a "10 out of 10." Throughout her life, Jane found joy in helping care for children, extending her nurturing spirit to not only her own but also to the little ones in her community.
Jane's warmth and vivacity were complemented by her love for shopping, with her enthusiasm likely playing a role in keeping QVC in business. She was a remarkable woman whose interests and hobbies brightened the lives of those around her.
Among her proudest accomplishments was her service as a volunteer firefighter many years ago in Plainville, Georgia. Additionally, she took great pride in running the “Guys and Dolls Beauty Pageant” in the early 90s, showcasing her vibrant community spirit.
Jane's family legacy extends to her grandchildren, Dustin Thomas, Jana Lindsey (Toby), and Brenton Thomas, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kolman Fowler, Paisley Mahon, Phanuel Lindsey, and Yahsher Lindsey, all of whom carry forward her love and zest for life.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Dena Perkins (Allen) and Delana Mahon (Jeremy) and son, Damien Richard Hopper, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Bobbie Dukes (Fred) and Elizabeth Carpenter (Billy) Faye Cook, and her brother, Alvin Hall.
Jane was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Thomas Richard Hopper, and her daughter, Kristie Leeann Thomas; sister, Gail Brogdon. She will be remembered for her lively spirit, devotion to family, and the deep love she had for all those who had the fortune to know her. Her vibrant presence will be profoundly missed, leaving an enduring legacy of love and joy in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
