Thomas Woodrow Hinton Jr., affectionately known as Butch, passed away on June 22, 2025, in Dalton, Georgia. Born on November 10, 1944, in Salem, Kentucky, he was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose kindness and dedication to his family defined his life.

Butch graduated from high school in Marion, Kentucky, and shaped a diverse career path. In his early years, he worked for a tree business before working at Morton Arboretum. Later, he became a truck driver delivering fuel for Flying J, a position that allowed him to traverse the landscapes he loved while contributing to his family.

He shared a profound love with his wife, Nancy Hinton, whom he cherished deeply. Known for his unwavering devotion, Butch often described Nancy as his soul mate, referring to her as his "split apart." Their bond resonated through the songs they held dear, particularly "I Cross My Heart," which always brought forth the sentiment that it was truly their song.

Butch had a vibrant spirit, characterized by his kind and loving nature. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the essence of compassion. His hobbies included hunting, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers, and gardening, pursuits that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with the great outdoors.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; children, Penny Tankersly, Tara Walters, Rebecca Hunter, and Everett Dwight Cumby Jr.; his sister, Donna Mack; brothers, John Hinton, Jerry Hinton, Jeffery Hinton as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Clark Hinton, and his father, Thomas Hinton Sr.; brothers, Jim Hinton and Joe Hinton.

Thomas Woodrow Hinton Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
