Thomas Wayne Hogue, affectionately known to many as Wayne, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026. Born on August 14, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, Wayne’s life was a testament to dedication, passion, and a deep love for his roots and family.

Wayne’s journey began in the heart of Atlanta, where he was born to William Elbert Hogue and Evelyn Herren Hogue. He was one of several siblings, including his brothers Rodney, Bill, and Harold Hogue, and sister Sandra Hogue Babb, all of whom have preceded him in death. Despite these heavy losses, Wayne remained a steadfast presence for his surviving family.

After high school, Wayne answered the call of duty and served honorably for two years in the United States Army. This period of service shaped much of Wayne’s character— instilling discipline, resilience, and a profound respect for those who serve our country. Upon completing his military service, Wayne pursued higher education at Georgia Tech. His spirit as a true Tech fan was evident throughout his life, marked by a loyalty and enthusiasm that never waned.

Professionally, Wayne made his mark as a skilled architect and project manager. His career spanned several firms across Atlanta and the Carolinas, where his vision and meticulous attention to detail contributed to many lasting structures. Wayne’s work was an extension of his artistic sensibility and commitment to excellence, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and clients alike.

Wayne’s legacy is carried forward by those who cherished him most: his beloved brother Terry Hogue and Terry’s wife Linda. He also leaves behind a host of treasured nieces and nephews—Erin Hogue, Meredith Phillips, Susan Wamsley, Brent Hogue, Kelly Babb, Scott Babb, Dennis Hogue, and Randy Hogue—each of whom held a special place in his heart. Their memories and stories will carry his spirit through the years to come.

The family has chosen Georgia National Cemetery in Canton as Wayne’s final resting place—a fitting honor for a man who served his nation with unwavering pride. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the warmth of his character, the strength of his values, and the depth of his love will continue to inspire all who knew him.

In a life full of achievements, service, and family, Thomas Wayne Hogue was a beacon of dedication and kindness. His story is one of enduring grace, and as we remember him, we find comfort in the profound impact he had in his years among us. Rest peacefully, dear Wayne—you will be forever remembered and cherished.
