Timothy F. Peterson, affectionately known as Tim, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2026. Born on July 18, 1939, in Merrill, Wisconsin, Tim’s life was a tapestry woven with dedication, love, and an enduring spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Tim devoted much of his life to the open roads, driving semi trucks across the country, carrying not just cargo but also the weight of hard work and the deep satisfaction of a job well done. Yet, his true passion shone most brightly close to home. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Papa), and great-grandfather whose heart found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life: puttering in the garage, tending the yard, feeding wildlife, lending a helping hand to neighbors with their projects, and joyfully playing with his chainsaw—a tool as much a symbol of his hands-on nature as his caring spirit.

Born and raised in Merrill, Tim’s roots ran deep through the Wisconsin soil. Those who knew him recognized a man of quiet strength and gentle humor, someone who found beauty in the humblest moments and valued family above all else. His legacy is carried forward by those who loved him dearly: his devoted wife Laraine; his children, Scott (Mary) Peterson, Gregory Peterson, and Leigh Ann (Britt) Lynn; his cherished granddaughter Maggie Lynn; and great-granddaughter Evie Lynn. Alongside them stand many extended family members who carry the warmth of Tim’s memory in their hearts.

Tim’s journey was preceded by his beloved parents, Omer and Evelyn, who shaped the foundation of his character. He was also reunited in spirit with his siblings Marilyn Peterson, Randy Peterson, Arleigh Jameson, and Omer “Chick” Peterson, along with several close friends and countless beloved dogs who shared parts of his life’s path.

Tim’s life was a testament to caring deeply for others—not only humans but all creatures. To honor his compassionate legacy, those who wish may consider continuing his love and support of animals through donations to the Cherokee Animal Shelter or any animal rescue of choice.

In the quiet moments left in the wake of his passing, we remember Tim not just for the miles he traveled or the tasks he completed, but for the love he sowed, the kindness he shared, and the imprint of a man whose heart was as vast as the open highway he once called his office. He will be sorely missed, fondly remembered, and deeply cherished by all fortunate enough to have shared in his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Cherokee Animal Shelter https://www.cherokeega-animals.org/donate or any rescue of your choice, to continue his legacy of caring for those in need.

Care of Tim has been entrusted to In Their Honor Funeral and Cremation Providers.
