Virginia Thompson passed away peacefully in Rockmart, GA on January 1, 2026 at the age of 89.Virginia was born in Cambridge, MA on July 8, 1936 and raised by her late parents Russell and Arlene Cleversey in Belmont and Lexington, MA. She raised her family in Milford, NH and later in Roswell, GA.She is predeceased by her parents, ex-husband Ralph Thompson, her sister Betty McCarthy and brother-in-laws Robert McCarthy and Clyde Wesinger and her beloved grandsons Jacob Bennett and Jason Bailey, her cousin Janet Perry (Lou) and 2 nieces and 2 nephews and a good friend Nancy Hicks and many loved aunts and uncles and her cherished pets.She is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl Bennett (Michael), beloved son Kevin Thompson (Patty), sisters Margaret Szwec and Marilyn Wesinger, grandchildren Janna Bailey-Long (Renisha), Jonathan Bailey, Michael Buckle (Kristy) and Jessica Merritt (Ryan) and 10 great-grandchildren all of GA, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and her precious cat Maggie.For the last few years, Virginia had lived in Rockmart, GA cared for by her daughter. She enjoyed many years after retirement in Dallas, GA. Virginia enjoyed crocheting afghans, bird watching, reading mystery books, her baby doll collection and traveling to her beloved Nova Scotia, New Hampshire and Maine visiting family and friends.
Virginia was a loved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Mother-In-Law, Cousin, Aunt, Grammie and Yaya and like a second mother to her niece Debbie McCarthy. She lived a long life and will be missed by all.
